Yoga Sūtras of Patañjali

The Yoga Sūtras of Patañjali evolved from an oral tradition thousands of years old. They are meant to be received, memorized and understood through on-going instruction by a teacher and continuous study by the student. Through this traditional learning process, the meaning of these ancient words of wisdom – and their relevance to our modern lives – is revealed.

Vedic Chant

Vedic texts, thousands of years old, contain wisdom still relevant to the challenges we face in the modern world. But it is the act of chanting that brings life to these texts. Chant practice explores listening and reciting as an integrating experience for body, mind and breath. Classes and workshops involve recitation of simple sounds, brief chants, excerpts from longer passages, and evolve to incorporate the deeper significance and meaning of the Veda.

Linda's Vedic Chant classes and workshops include listen and repeating skills, reading of sanskrit transliteration, background and meaning of chants presented, and are appropriate for inquisitive students of all levels.

Bhagavad Gītā

The beautiful and poetic verses of the Bhagavad Gītā or “Divine Song” have a lovely melody for chant. In this timeless classic, the dialogue between Krishna and Arjuna presents the teachings of Yoga from different perspectives. These inspiring verses provide an opportunity to reflect on the balance between the responsibilities that arise for everyone in contemporary daily life and our deeply-felt desire for personal freedom.

Linda's Bhagavad Gita classes and workshops include chanting, readings, and refection and are appropriate for inquisitive students of all levels.

Chanting requires that I stay very attentive to what is happening in the moment, and let go of distractions and mistakes without dwelling and getting stuck. This has helped me recognize and cultivate helpful states of mind, and reduce unhelpful ones.
